After getting to know the owner of a local cryotherapy business, Matt, he told me about the multiple times he’s been burned by local marketing companies. As a result, he’s poured thousands of dollars into local advertising to get ZERO results, and I wanted to bring you his story today so you can see things from a local business owner’s perspective.
Matt’s is a story I hear all too often, and it really frustrates me to hear of small businesses getting taken advantage of like that. This is a big reason why I created my FB ADmanager course for people looking to start and grow a Facebook ads business.

Forgive me your time. Hope all is going well. Whatever you’re up to today this is episode number one hundred and sixty two and I’ve got something a little bit different for you today. So I started testing out cryotherapy a couple of months ago. For those of you who don’t know what crowd therapy is basically you go and stand in this big giant cylinder with your head popping out. And it’s really really cold inside from liquid nitrogen and it’s supposed to help with inflammation and soreness and it’s supposed to speed up metabolism and all this other stuff and we have a crowd therapy place here in my neighborhood in San Diego it’s called chill tonic and I got introduced to it by this place where I get where I do rehab and suffer my lower back and also personal training and stuff like that. And so I tried it out. I loved it and it was really really cool. I was seeing a lot of benefits from it. I was going like four to five times a week. And then you know I started to tail off after that. And I’m actually not doing it any more just just for the purpose of it a little bit expensive and also I wasn’t seeing as many results from it as I was in the beginning. [00:01:41] But during this time of going so often to it I got to know the owner of that business His name is Matt. And like it always happens you know he asked me what I do. And when I told him that I teach all my marketing and Facebook ads he proceeded to tell me about the multiple times that he’s been burned by local marketing companies you know local agencies coming in and pitching their services how they can help them they can help the local business market online whether it’s Facebook ads or Google Adwords or whatever it is. And he ended up pouring thousands of dollars into local advertising and working with a couple of these small agencies only to get zero results and nothing to show for his investment of several thousand dollars here. Unfortunately I hear this thing all too often from businesses and I hate it it frustrates the heck out of me because you know I just hate having you know hearing small businesses being taken advantage of like that and getting zero results. You know people come in and promise them all these big things and all these results and stuff like that and it’s so frustrating when I hear this stuff. You know this is a big reason why I created my SB ad manager course for people wanting to create and grow Facebook ads business so when I was at Shell tonic the crowd therapy place one day I asked Matt if he’d let me interview him for the show here and talk about his experience as a local business owner being approached by and working with local marketing agencies specifically. I asked him what he would now look for in a local agency approaching him to run Facebook ads for him. [00:03:25] We talk about where he thinks local agencies get it wrong with small businesses and also what he would need to hear from somebody pitching to work with him. And really my goal for this interview is to give you a different perspective from the local business owner side. We’re here in your home here in the. Healthy. [00:05:43] Home and doing this research. How has your life here. So. [00:05:53] Far. Yes I’ve been involved this three years. The first year you can. [00:06:04] Go over and then trust me. So. I’ve got. Two. [00:06:20] Shows you should see Robert. [00:06:25] So yes of course he said I actually got to me. [00:06:32] And you doing. Yes. Yes. So. You lost a lot of. [00:06:46] Stuff on my body. Yes. And look sharp contrast. Has chronic. Back pain. Yes. OK. And so you know all around. Well so when the two of us were. Pretty messed up this would be a really good way to. Bring some. Non. Drug free ways to. Reduce missional Ralston. [00:07:19] Says. Yeah I mean I didn’t any way to answer this any. And this always does when I’m in here. So that’s a success. Of course. When she went to see you guys was up for. And. When the first Manhattan got serious with it and working with here to hear me say listen these really bad experiences where they are physically they should never see her results in. I’m telling you you’re nodding your head yes. So please share your experiences been working with. [00:08:06] You know that their service is human and what’s happening with that. Yeah I mean. We’ve had that experience. Pretty much every time we’ve entered into. [00:08:19] It. Honestly one of the things that’s important to anybody that’s going to be markers on this page. So people that we’ve been pitching us on through. So. You know we spend a lot of time for something that was coming in. It’s. The. Financial time really I mean we felt that. This is the way it was going to allow them to. Really see mudslide. Nothings there. So you should be doing this you should be doing the social media. And frankly on this. Program. As. [00:09:09] We all love it. Right. I mean how do. You just seem to. Be. [00:09:18] What they’re doing. Granted it is more power to say you know that wasn’t really what we were saying. And. So. You. Get rid of that struggle trying to get worse. Valerie seems like. Plenty. There is this. Promise you have all of us. That maybe do something there was something there. For. Something that. Could be. [00:09:51] You know maybe not on. Yeah it was. [00:09:56] A close call. And it’s you know here’s here’s an example of if you are making. [00:10:03] You know what we can do physically the physical wiring here brain to love was quite hard. We. Expect. To see. Rises. [00:10:13] In reflection your pressure. So. To say this is interesting and. This one really gets you to become more more. This in this way but basically Drew here with with Frances essentially. Says in this interview today two pages is one thing for you for example. Your. [00:10:48] Tape of somewhere. What approach would be beneficial for you from someone coming in and what would that look like and what would you want to see what to say you you on your way to the shrine. And then what type of what type of work would you want to see from down. To for what you want to hear from from an approach to that. [00:11:16] Wall. So right now. You know you’re similar but then also. What would you want to see. Them. To be showing you that they’re really in it for the human business. I would say first and foremost. In. Your. [00:11:38] Life. You haven’t had that pish. So. I think. That something that’s important so don’t what we. Me. I want to feel as though. When you come to me as a professional artist you are some marketing. [00:11:57] So please explain. We will do that. She laid out a way that this. Is easily done. Just. Because you know as far as I’m concerned. [00:12:08] With everything else are our own. How is that to work with what you can from that. This is what. [00:12:22] Marketers do. I mean what am I going to wear. To see those results. How much money do we need to see. [00:12:33] You know X Y or Z. If I don’t know what those expectations my conditions. Can be very easy for me to gauge where we are of any group. I mean. Of. Course. I think probably the same. Just. Across the board is using are. Explaining. And showing what you do. Make it easy for me. Because any given day you know stores had lots of problems with wrestling and more work because I guess. [00:13:16] That’s what my approach is for more education. [00:13:22] Shawn how that began that process would be more of this. We. Checked in because I. Think one of these days we put this out and get traction on this. Thing. You know. Put us. [00:13:44] In this class you know in front of us just fantastic. This is the result of this. If it’s never going to be able. To act on it. But I think you made some. Clear guidelines that are. [00:14:03] Intelligent. They’re just there. For the summer. So. [00:14:10] Basically what I say here is don’t you want me educate me on what the possibility is. [00:14:18] So now you’re just blowing smoke over promising things are you kidding me. Is this possible. And then from the deliveries scene we it some more work you’re trying to deliver what you promised while I work them. If you want something from me. Easy for me does this bring you down to this business. Why and this bush with my hanging on my head. The ease of use. I. Think. With. Him. [00:15:03] When he was deemed to be an X for what they were actually they were expecting to shine for every one. I don’t want the. Job. You know why isn’t he to do it all and all candor. You have the tools to implement. We have something we need you. [00:15:28] Help us get to the place right there. So I mean I don’t need to know. You know with Google Analytics say our way X like this one person. Don’t tell me you’re Frontiere what their goals are. [00:15:43] And the person who you are hiring is letting you go where are your goals. You have the necessary interview certain SATs or whatever they’re irrelevant. You know as a designer are we doing X Y and Z. We discussed in the meeting. If we are raised here why isn’t that happening to your you know. As an. Why are you not building. And how do we fix. This. Break it down. So. [00:16:11] They are doing this show. [00:16:15] All right.
